PATRICE'S PERSPECTIVE

By Patrice Bumstead
General Manager of McKenzie County Media LLC
Farmer Editor

Change is inevitable, especially in business. Last Friday, McKenzie County’s beloved Editor Neal A. Shipman handed over his and Lisa Shipman’s keys to The Farmer, along with a folder that looks to have been around longer than I have with some words of wisdom that had been handed down to him once upon a time. It was a bittersweet moment in time.
All of us at The Farmer are excited for the Shipman’s to begin a new chapter in their lives, one that will include grandchildren and traveling with the occasional visit to those of us plugging away to maintain the level of excellence in local news coverage that Neal and Lisa have done for over three decades.
Many of our readers have asked what comes next? What will happen with The Farmer now that Neal and Lisa have retired?
To answer some of those pressing questions I would like to introduce the team. Many of our readers have already been introduced to the new owners Steve Hallstrom and Scott Hennen in some form or fashion. If not, let me assure you they are committed to the community of McKenzie County and are dedicated to continuing the principles that have made the McKenzie County Farmer what it is today.
