-Allow me to boast about the great community of Watford City. Coming off another successful “Best of the West Ribfest”, it’s a time for all of the organizers, sponsors, volunteers, cook teams, entertainers and attendees to take a bow! Wow!! The “can do” teamwork of this great city knows no limits. Even the weather cooperated this year, giving us some reprieve from the usual scorching Ribfest temps. There are many people who start today planning next year’s event. Thanks to Mary Fish-Gumke, Executive Director at the Watford City Area Chamber of Commerce for leading the charge.
-Isn’t it high time that Watford City has its own radio station? We’re excited to announce that AM1090 “The Flag” is moving from Tioga to Watford City. Our “Window on Main” studio will soon be under construction inside the offices of the McKenzie County Farmer at 109 Main Street North. This will allow us to provide more local news, weather and sports coverage for listeners in Northwest North Dakota and Northeast Montana. We will launch a program called “Watford City Wednesday” soon, which will be all about giving voice to our bustling city and region. Watch the pages of “The Farmer” for more details in the coming weeks.
-Flag Family Media, the parent company of the McKenzie County Farmer, is in the development stage of planning a brand new mobile app. We are currently seeking community partners to assist in the effort so this app can be a hub of information for our community. We’ll have news, sports and weather at your fingertips but plan to make this a “one stop shop” to be aware of all of the great things happening here at home.
