I saw it with my own eyes. Senator Chuck Schumer leaning over a chair to have a chummy conversation with President Donald Trump before the Al Smith dinner in New York City.
The annual dinner boasts a long tradition of bringing politicians, business and philanthropic leaders together to raise money for the poor children of New York City. In almost every Presidential election year, both the Democrat and Republican nominees are in attendance for the great cause, but Vice President Kamala Harris skipped it. Reportedly she was advised by one of her top advisors to snub the festivities because she would offend her loyal LBGTQ and pro-abortion supporters by attending an event hosted by the Catholic church. While that is typical of the nastiness we have seen from her, I was struck by a moment the cameras caught between Trump and Schumer.
Think about all of the wild and reckless allegations they make about Trump. President Joe Biden says “He’s a genuine threat to our democracy, and that’s not hyperbole. That is the God’s truth.” Biden said Trump believes he has the right “to actually eliminate - physically eliminate - shoot, kill - someone who is - he believes to be a threat to him.” Biden even said it was time to “Lock him up.” Harris is peddling the same nonsense. So is her buffoonish Vice Presidential nominee, the laughing stock that calls himself a knucklehead, Governor Tim Walz. None of them are making a closing argument to the American people about how the Harris-Walz administration plans to make their lives better. They are too busy comparing Trump to Hitler.
