WHAT'S ON YOUR MIND

September 10, 2025, will be remembered as a turning point in America. It was the day a man was assassinated for what he said. He is now a martyr simply because of what he believed. That man is my dear friend, Charlie Kirk.

Charlie was more than a public figure. He was a force for good in our nation by founding Turning Point USA and daring to engage America’s youth with the message that biblical values and the genius of our founding fathers still matter. Charlie revered the men who birthed this great republic, and he was the closest to an apostle as any other human I’ve ever met. His passion wasn’t simply political - it was spiritual. He believed the truth was worth defending, and he never flinched.

Thomas Paine wrote Common Sense: The Origin and Design of Government, a pamphlet that helped spark the Revolution. It was one of Charlie’s favorite tools to teach us about liberty and the moral duty of citizenship. But unlike Paine, Charlie had the microphone of modern media - social media, the internet, and talk radio. He wielded them as a force for good, showing us how technology could amplify truth rather than distort it.

I was blessed to know him as a colleague in the small world of talk radio. Together, we helped grow his radio audience and that relationship brought him to North Dakota seven times. I’ll never forget his first visit, when he gave the commencement address for Johnson Corners Christian Academy - to a graduating class of one. Think about that. A national voice, a leader for millions, humbled himself to pour into a single student in a small corner of North Dakota. That was Charlie Kirk. He was our friend, and now he is a fallen friend.
