Let’s start with some good news - the kind that makes you proud to be a North Dakotan. Companies like Meta, Google, and Amazon are scrambling for compute power right now, and guess where they’re looking? North Dakota. We are at the epicenter of this global race for data, energy, and innovation. That’s an enormous opportunity for our state.
Here’s why: compute power doesn’t come out of thin air - it comes from energy, something North Dakota has in abundance. In this game, energy equals megawatts, gigawatts, and opportunity. That puts us squarely in the catbird seat. If we can keep leveraging what we have - and maybe move ourselves just a little closer to the sun - who knows, maybe we should give Elon Musk a call. He’s always looking for a new frontier, and we’ve got the watts for it.
I’ve been saying for weeks: the need for speed has never been greater. Things are moving fast, and thankfully, some of our leaders are moving with it. So, a big cheer to the folks in Bismarck who are leaning in and innovating - people like House Majority Leader Mike Lefor, Senate Majority Leader David Hogue, Senator Dale Patton, and Representative Mike Nathe. These are problem-solvers who see opportunity, not obstacles.
Our Industrial Commission is also firing on all cylinders. Hats off to Governor, Kelly Armstrong, Attorney General, Drew Wrigley, and Ag Commissioner, Doug Goehring - they’re meeting the moment with vision and pragmatism. And don’t forget the Bank of North Dakota, under new leadership, doing an incredible job supporting growth and innovation. Cheers to all of them. Let’s meet the moment with confidence.
