WHAT'S ON YOUR MIND

Six years ago, the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library was little more than a bold idea. No land. No architect. No donors. No team. Just a vision and a deadline.
This July 4, that vision becomes reality.

While visiting with Interior Secretary Doug Burgum at the Williston Basin Petroleum Conference, I couldn’t help but reflect on how remarkable the journey has been. Burgum was the original champion of the project, and he reminded me that from the very beginning there was one non-negotiable target: opening in 2026 as part of America’s 250th birthday celebration.

“We didn’t have any of the things that normally you would have,” Burgum said. “But the one thing we did have was a date.”

Against all odds, the team met that challenge. In a matter of just a few years, North Dakota transformed an ambitious dream into what will soon be one of the most unique presidential libraries in America.

The library itself is an extraordinary achievement, but Burgum offered a preview of something that may become one of its most talked-about attractions: an artificial intelligence-powered Theodore Roosevelt.
