The world watched on July 1 as President Donald Trump arrived in North Dakota for the dedication of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in Medora. It was the kind of day that would have made Teddy Roosevelt flash that famous grin.

There was a new Air Force One, Marine One, the famous Rough Riders on horseback leading the motorcade and even a train. The Badlands became America’s front porch, welcoming a president to honor another president whose life was remade by North Dakota.

But the most remarkable guest in Medora was not carried in by helicopter or motorcade. Theodore Roosevelt was there, too, in the form of a technological marvel that may change the way young Americans learn history. Call him AI Teddy.

This was no gimmick. Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum explained that Roosevelt wrote 44 books and more letters than Washington and Jefferson combined. His speeches, writings and correspondence have been loaded into what Burgum called a closed “walled garden,” along with approved biographies from trusted historians. The result is not the internet pretending to be Roosevelt. It is Teddy answering from Teddy.
