#2 NDSU gets first win of the season in home opener

It was a day of firsts for the North Dakota State University football team on Saturday afternoon’s home opener against Tennessee State, in front of 16,811 fans.
In the first half alone, three Bison scored their first touchdowns at the collegiate level.
On its first possession, NDSU would journey 77 yards over 12 plays resulting in a touchdown from Senior Quarterback Cam Miller on a 24-yard run for a 7-0 lead.
The ensuing Tennessee State drive would result in a three-and-out. NDSU would score again on a 14-yard pass from Miller to Junior Receiver Bryce Lance. It was Lance’s first receiving TD of his collegiate career. NDSU had a 14-0 lead.
To end the first quarter, Sophomore Defensive End Toby Anene sacked TSU QB Draylen Ellis. The sack was Anene’s first as a Bison.
In the second quarter, NDSU got an explosive 67-yard punt return from Fargo product John Gores, setting up the Bison at the TSU 26-yard line, and NDSU would score four plays later on a Marty Brown three-yard TD carry, for a 21-0 lead.
After another TSU punt, NDSU took over at its own 24-yard line. The Bison would embark on a 77-yard drive on eight plays resulting in a touchdown as Miller hit Gores on a 12-yard pass for the Sophomore wideout’s first receiving touchdown.
The Bison had a 28-0 lead but weren’t done in the first half. NDSU would march 60 yards over eight plays in 60 seconds, capped off by a six-yard TD pass from Miller to Lance. Their second connection of the half gave NDSU a 35-0 halftime lead.
