According to figures from the USDA, Agriculture in McKenzie County is growing-fast.
McKenzie County
Farmland Statistics
The number of farms in the county is up 7 percent since 2022, reaching a total of 576 farms. In addition, agricultural land has increased in size by 21 percent to 1,359,174 acres. The average farm size has also increased by 14 percent to 2,360 acres.
This upward trend, reflecting an increasing attention to agricultural potential, is becoming noticeable across McKenzie County. There are likely a number of reasons for this expansion in McKenzie County:
• Rising commodity prices. Prices of crops such as wheat, soybeans and corn have gone up, making farming more profitable.
• Ag-friendly policies: Government policies and programs have provided some support to farmers, encouraging growth.
• Better Technology: Ag developments, such as precision farming and the proliferation of genetically superior seed varieties, have increased yields.
