McKenzie County Public School District No. 1 (MCPSD1) has announced that they are now offering a “comprehensive virtual education for all of McKenzie County Public School District No. 1 students, including new students, returning students, and homeschooled students.” This is all part of the Watford City Virtual Academy (WCVA).
According to the district, “This academy is tailored to provide flexible K-12 learning opportunities through a robust curriculum overseen by a Bakken Area Skills Center (BASC) licensed teacher.”
Right now all grades, kindergarten through 12, are available, though students interested in kindergarten through fifth grade must go through an approval process by school administration before they are allowed to participate.
The district explains, “WCVA-enrolled students will be able to participate in Co-curricular Activities (ex: prom, math clubs, shows, spelling bees, speech, debate, and drama). They will also be able to graduate with their class and walk in the graduation ceremony receiving their High School Diploma from Watford City.”
All of the courses for WCVA are delivered by the North Dakota Center for Distance Education and are accredited.
