Watford City man charged with vehicular battery

Robert Shipp, 35, of Watford City, is facing a Class 4 Felony for vehicular battery and a Class 1 Misdemeanor for driving or control of vehicle while having a .08 percent or more alcohol in blood following his arrest on Aug. 10, 2024 in Meade County, S.D.
The Meade County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement on Aug. 14, stating that Shipp was arrested following a motorcycle crash at the Buffalo Chip Campground on Aug. 10. The victim, later identified as Aaften Westbrock, sustained serious life-threatening injuries and was transported to a medical center in Rapid City, S.D. for her injuries.
The Farmer was contacted by Dustin Dunning, a family friend of Westbrock last week.
Dunning stated that Westbrock was working at a venue during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally when she was struck by a drunk driver from behind causing a severe brain injury.
