For the ninth year in a row, the Bakken Oil Rush Ministry (BORM) will be hosting a community dinner open to residents of McKenzie County before Thanksgiving. This traditional event will be held Thursday, Nov. 17, at 6 p.m. at the Watford City Civic Center.
BORM is a local thrift store that accepts donations and provides services to the community. Executive Director Melanie Smith says the focus of the thrift store is not to make money, but to help people.
“A lot of people don’t think of us that way, they think of us just as a thrift store, until they start coming and see how we are different,” said Smith. “It is our mission to help people feel like they belong.”
The vision of (BORM) is “to help those in need by providing physical, spiritual and social needs, so that they can draw closer to Jesus and become positive contributors in the community.”
