Blue Santa program gears up to provide Christmas to area children

The Blue Santa program is back for the ninth consecutive year, and according to organizers, the program gets better every year.
“The Watford City Police Foundation and the Blue Santa program was started in late 2015,” said Shannon Wellen, the treasurer of the Watford City Police Foundation. “The purpose of our Blue Santa program is to give back to our community. We raise money in order to give a Christmas experience to children in McKenzie County by purchasing them items that their family requests in combination with providing Watford City Bucks to use with local businesses.”
This year the Blue Santa program has been chosen by the Fashion Show For a Cause, and the proceeds for ticket sales will all go toward helping local families in need.
