County approves $4 million for skills center

As the McKenzie County Public School District No. 1 prepares to submit its application to the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction to create a workforce skills center in Watford City, the McKenzie County commissioners jumped on board as they approved spending $4 million over the next two years for the project.
“We’ve been working on creating a skills center in Watford City for five years,” Daniel Stenberg, McKenzie County Job Development Authority director told the commissioners on Tuesday, Sept. 7. “The state legislature approved $70 million on a dollar for dollar matching grant for the creation of skill centers in North Dakota.”
