Couple has a close call with fire, dog saves the day

When Morgan Cook named her dog ‘Saiorse’ (pronounced sur-she), she did so because it means freedom in Irish. Unbeknownst to her, the name couldn’t have been more perfectly suited for the Rottweiler-Heeler mix after it recently alerted Cook and her boyfriend, Gary Tyler, of a trailer that had mysteriously gone ablaze next door.
“She’s only five months old and she’s very smart and learns very quickly,” says Cook. “She’s very loyal and protective.”
“She’s our only child,” chimes Tyler.
Had it not been for the couple’s “only child,” today, it’s hard to say how Dec. 1 could’ve happened differently.
“She’s always good about letting us know something. But this was different; she would not let up,” says Cook.
“Ordinarily, I get up at 4:10 a.m. for work and that morning it was about 2:55 a.m.,” says Tyler. “Saiorse was just relentless; pawing at me and licking my face.”
