Oil prices have surged over $100 a barrel for the first time since 2014 after Russia launched an invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022. And the impact of those triple digit oil prices are being felt across the country as American consumers are seeing gasoline prices climb to a national average of $3.72 a gallon as of March 3. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the previous high cost of gasoline was $3.71 in April of 2014.
One month ago, the national average for gasoline was $3.259 a gallon while diesel fuel was $3.689 a gallon. A year ago at this time the national average for gasoline was $2.676 a gallon and diesel fuel was $3.022 a gallon.
