Fireworks “a go” thanks to moisture

After a couple years where fireworks were off the table due to a severe drought, people haven’t held their breath to purchase fireworks. But cross your fingers because thanks to the moisture received in recent months in McKenzie County, it’s looking pretty good for this year’s Fourth of July.
“I don’t think we’re going to have a hiccup this year,” says Karolin Jappe, McKenzie County Emergency manager.
That is, unless, on the early morning of July 4, the ND.gov response website shows the fire index as ‘high,’ ‘very high,’ or ‘extreme,’ Jappe says.
“Then, we have a problem,” she says.
