Gun enthusiasts are in for quite a treat when they visit Watford City. A breathtaking collection of commemorative firearms, valued at over $1 million, has recently become a cornerstone attraction at the McKenzie County Heritage Center. The extraordinary collection of firearms, meticulously amassed by Delmer and Marceline Rink, is now on display at the center. The assemblage represents over 40 years of dedicated collecting. The impressive array of unique guns is showcased in a custom-built case designed specifically for the collection by Williston Woodworks. This permanent exhibit is expected to be a significant draw for visitors, adding a unique and valuable attraction to the museum.

Leroy Lillibridge, President of the McKenzie County Heritage Center Board, expressed his enthusiasm for the donation. “It’s a big draw for people to come to the museum,” Lillibridge stated, emphasizing the collection’s potential to significantly increase traffic. He also noted that there are “20-some more guns that [Rink] is going to [donate and display],” indicating the collection will continue to grow. Lillibridge highlighted the permanence of the donation, stating, “It’ll be there always,” ensuring future generations can appreciate the historical and artistic value of these unique firearms. “It’s just an amazing display, and we are thrilled it will have a home here in our museum.”

Heather Priest, Administrator at the Heritage Center, echoed the sentiment of excitement: “It’s an amazing collection–way bigger and more unique than we could ever have imagined.” She mentioned that even without formal publicity, word-of-mouth has already brought visitors who have been greatly impressed with the collection, stating that “they’ve never seen anything like this before.” The Heritage Center hopes this remarkable exhibit will bring a positive crowd and boost summer tourism.
