HIGH BUILDING FEES LIMITING HOME CONSTRUCTION

While new home builders in Watford City are faced with multiple obstacles in constructing new single-family homes, one developer is saying that the building fees that the city of Watford City is charging makes the process even more challenging.
“Our goal for city leaders is to see more houses built in Watford City,” stated Steve Stenehjem with Stenehjem Development, to members of the city ordinance committee on Wednesday, Dec. 1. “For a number of years, we’ve been building single-family homes in Watford City and I’ve seen what other developers around the state, the region and across the country are paying for permitting fees. And I’ve always thought the permitting fees in Watford City are pretty outlandish.”
