In a swift move to fill the vacant North Dakota House District 26 seat, Kelby Timmons of Watford City has been selected to replace Jeremy Olson, who recently resigned.

Timmons, who previously served in the 2023 legislative session, brings a familiar face and a commitment to conservative principles back to the statehouse, promising “honesty, integrity, and transparency” to his constituents.

The appointment comes after Olson’s abrupt resignation in May, a decision following a harassment complaint, which was withdrawn upon his resignation. While the circumstances of the vacancy “are unfortunate,” Timmons expressed gratitude for the opportunity.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to represent the people of District 26 again,” he stated, adding that he plans to serve “in a way that reflects our conservative values within our Republican platform.”

Senator Dale Patten, also representing District 26, lauded Timmons’ selection, emphasizing his prior experience. “He’s been there before, so he knows the ropes,” Senator Patten commented, also highlighting Timmons’ background in key regional industries: “He’s got experience in energy and agriculture.”
