Local family to host Alzheimer’s Awareness Walk

The Nelson family of Arnegard is organizing an Alzheimer’s Silent Auction Benefit and Walk to be held on June 28-29. The Nelson family farm is set to be recognized as a centennial farm this year, and that centennial home has seen generations of the family affected by Alzheimer’s disease.
“This is a disease that has really affected every one of us,” Barbara Johnson, a member of the family and one of the organizers of the Alzheimer’s events, said. “Even if we don’t personally have the disease, we all are affected by the effects it has on those we love.”
She explained that every year, their family takes part in an Alzheimer’s walk somewhere in the country to help raise funds for Alzheimer treatment and prevention research.
