On Friday, June 14, members of the Prairie Rose Quilt Guild presented ten Quilts of Valor to McKenzie County veterans during the McKenzie County Fair.
Quilts of Valor is a national foundation whose website states, “The mission of the Quilts of Valor Foundation is to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor.”
A Quilt of Valor (QOV) is a “quality, handmade quilt that is machine or hand quilted. It is awarded to a Service Member or Veteran who has been touched by war.  The Quilt says unequivocally, “Thank you for your service and sacrifice in serving our nation.””
These quilts must meet specific criteria, such as sizing requirements, and they are awarded to nominated veterans. Each quilt is labeled and recorded in the national database, along with the recipient that is awarded the quilt.
