Local teen appointed to State Superintendent’s Student Cabinet

On Monday, July 29, Aidan Pelton, a junior from Watford City High School was named to the North Dakota School Superintendent Kirsten Baesler, Superintendent’s Student Cabinet. The 25 student cabinet is comprised of students who will offer Baesler their advice and suggestions for improving K-12 education.
The new members to the Cabinet include students who will be attending the third through the 12th grades during the 2024-25 school year. They represent public and private schools of varying sizes across North Dakota, including schools in Fargo, Belfield, Bismarck, Dunseith, Grand Forks, Hazen, Kenmare, Watford City and Wimbledon.
This will be Aidan’s second term serving on the cabinet. He says, “I am excited to participate on the cabinet, as I will be able to directly affect change and represent McKenzie County Public School District No. 1.”
He explained the cabinet, saying, “This cabinet’s purpose is to get students of all different ages together to discuss their thoughts on education in North Dakota; what is going well, and where we can improve.”
