The Watford City Police Department is continuing its search for the man involved in the Sept. 20 burglary of JL Beers in Watford City.
While the department initially believed that Cancellor Zimmerman was the suspect, the case took an interesting twist on Tuesday, Sept. 24, when Zimmerman contacted the department from Texas after learning of the incident through social media posts.
Officers were able to interview him, according to an updated news release from the Watford City Police Department and it appears Zimmerman is the victim of identity theft stemming from a previously unreported property loss.
The suspect in this burglary, according to the police department, is an imposter and has been posing as Zimmerman to commit this and other crimes.
