The McKenzie County Ag Expo has been nominated for the Regional Project of the year as part of Williston Economic Development and Western Region Economic Development, which encompasses Divide, Montrail, Williams, and McKenzie Counties.
Ag Expo Director Chris Kubal told the McKenzie County Board of County Commissioners at their meeting on July 6.
“We don’t know a lot about it at this time,” said Kubal, “but it is still pretty exciting.”
The other finalists are the Mountrail-Williams Building, and the Links of North Dakota.
The winner is expected to be announced in September, along with other individuals or groups that have been selected to be recognized.
This award is given every year, and while there hasn’t been a winner in McKenzie County, the Rough Rider Center was nominated years ago.
Winners of the award usually receive additional free press attention as part of the award announcement.
There is no campaigning for the award, as it is all done through an unbiased committee in Williston.
