McKenzie County burn restrictions in place for 2023
Kristen Jones

The annual McKenzie County Burn Restrictions, formerly known as a burn ban, was signed into effect on May 2, and will remain in effect until Oct. 31, 2023.
Each year a burn restriction is put in place to prevent the unintentional burning of land and to reduce the risk of wildfires.
The burn restrictions specify that no fires are permitted on days where the local fire index is listed as high, very high, extreme, or on days with a red flag warning. This includes recreational fires, garbage burning, ignition of fireworks, burning of farm or cropland, and unnecessary off-road motorized vehicle travel.
