McKenzie County Community Coalition hosts Mental Health First Aid Training

A video clip of an attractive young woman dancing recently surfaced on the internet. In the footage, she appears happy and perfectly at ease. Twelve hours later, she took her own life.
Recognizing the early signs of a mental health dilemma in a loved one, friend or acquaintance can be a challenge in itself. But it’s not always as hard as you might think and it could actually be one of the first steps to helping them or pointing them in the right direction to the resources they need.
Last week, Calli Thorne, a local community member, facilitated a Mental Health First Aid Training in Watford City.
“You likely have friends or family who have faced a mental health issue whether you recognize it or not,” says Thorne.
