N.D. Property Tax Credit Program expansion approved by Legislature

The North Dakota Legislature passed a bill that expanded a property tax credit for North Dakota residents which, for some residents, could reduce the amount of property taxes owed by as much as 100 percent in a given year.
This plan, which is an expansion of the Homestead Credit Program, will make the income-based aid program available to a wider percent of the population through the new higher cutoff points for both income and owned property value.
To be eligible for the program, an individual must be 65 or older in the year they are applying for; or if a married couple is living together, the one applying for the credit must be 65 or older. There is only one tax credit available per household.
