North Dakota oil production continues to rise despite wildfires

The North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources held its monthly Director’s Cut meeting on Oct. 17, 2024, where officials discussed production numbers in the state oil and gas industry for the month of August 2024.
McKenzie County Statistics
While overall oil production in North Dakota saw a slight increase, McKenzie County’s production has outpaced the state’s growth, retaining its position as a leader in the state’s energy industry.
As of August 2024, McKenzie County remains the top oil-producing county in North Dakota, accounting for approximately 33 percent of the state’s total oil production. In August, the county produced a whopping 12.2 million barrels of oil, significantly surpassing the state average.
