As a lover of Jesus and service work and a volunteer for the Bakken Oil Rush Ministry (BORM) since 2014, everything seemed to come full circle for Melanie Smith who became its new director last week.
“I volunteered at the BORM, so I knew about the job opening. But didn’t feel my calling to do that. I loved my job at the CrossPoint Church and didn’t see any reason to leave,” says Smith, of her change of heart.
That is, until recently, when Smith heard the BORM’s founders, Jim and Kathy Konsor, speak at the organization’s annual Comedy Cafe event on Oct. 1, 2021.
“When I heard them speak about the mission and the vision of the organization, I just thought oh my goodness, I need to do this. It was then that I knew I needed to apply for this job,” Smith says.
Smith’s eyes sparkled as she smiled recalling back to a time of the BORM’s origination.
