The Office of North Dakota Governor, Doug Burgum, is preparing to host the annual Main Street Summit in Watford City Aug. 27-29. This is the first time the summit has been held in western North Dakota, as well as the first time the Summit is being held at a city the size of Watford City.
Anya Hondel, community development coordinator for the state of North Dakota, explained, “The 2024 Main Street Summit in Watford City unites community leaders, economic developers, political figures, and the public in a collaborative effort to advance the goals of Governor Burgum’s Main Street Initiative. This two-day conference aims to foster regional prosperity across North Dakota communities, and will bring together community leaders, economic developers, political leaders, and the general public to engage in discussions that foster healthy, vibrant communities, share best practices, strategize, network, and leave energized and inspired. Participants will participate in breakout sessions, regarding topics of placemaking, planning and zoning, best practices, and workforce.”
