The Farmer welcomes reporter M.K. French

M.K. French
Farmer Staff Writer

Hey there, McKenzie County! My name is M.K. French, and it’s my pleasure to be the newest contributor to the McKenzie County Farmer. I will be covering a variety of stories, including local government, state oil and gas, agriculture, and any other topics of interest to our readers.
Being a small-town girl all my life, I am passionate about all things representing Americana; I care about the issues you care about, and take pride in our shared identity as one who, like you, hails from the heartland of our country.
As a writer, I am interested in sharing the stories that matter to our region and truly capture the big impacts being made in small places - by all the kind and hardworking folks like you. These are your stories - and they deserve to be told - to our neighbors, whether they live down the street, over the next county, or across the state and nation.
My journalistic background goes back to my first stint, at twelve years old, as a contributor to a small publication called the Ghost Town Quarterly. Since then, I have worked as a freelance journalist, staff writer, copywriter, and creative contributor for various Western publications including The Lewistown News-Argus. I also founded the Wheatland Wordsmiths writing group in Central Montana. In between, I have made a career as an educator in English and Fine Arts, and a dabbler in, and lover of literary pursuits of all kinds, as well as art and photography. For most of my life, I have taught school and looked after my family; both occupations in which I am honored to take part.
