What do you get when a pair of passionate law enforcement officers decide to be the cheer coaches for the high school cheer team? You get a team that not only cheers to championships, but also constantly pushes themselves to become better, and consistently strives for excellence not only on the mats, but in their daily life as well.
Chelsey Schatz is the head coach of the Watford City High School Cheerleading Team, and her full-time job is a State K9 Trooper with the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
When asked about her career path, she said, “I decided to go into law enforcement when I was a teen. I had many family members who were in law enforcement. I saw how much they were able to help people, and that’s what I wanted to do. To help people.”
Schatz said that cheerleading has also been a big part of her life following her time as a cheerleader at Jamestown High School in Jamestown North Dakota. She continued to share her love of the sport while pursuing her career in law enforcement.
