Starting Monday, July 14, McKenzie County Veterans will be able to take advantage of new medical services.

The American Legion Carl E. Rogen Post 29 has partnered with the VA Fargo Health System to offer a new Accessing Telehealth through Local Area Stations (ATLAS) site at the American Legion in Watford City.

According the VA Fargo Health System, this new ATLAS site is a key component to the VA Anywhere to Anywhere telehealth initiative, which is designed to enhance access of care for Watford City and surrounding area veterans.

"By establishing an ATLAS site at the American Legion, we are breaking down common barriers that veterans face, such as lengthly travel times for appointments, inclement weather conditions and unreliable internet connectivity at home," says VA Fargo Health Sytems officials.

At the Watford City location, veterans will discover a welcoming, private space to access state-of-the-art technology in order to connect with their VA providers, using VA Video Connect. VA Video Connect is the VA's secure and reliable videoconferencing application. There will be an on-site attendent to assist veterans with check-in and resolve any basic technical issues.

Watford City veterans and their families are invited to attend the grand-opening event from 2-5 p.m., on Monday, July 14. For more information, call the Fargo VA Public Affairs Office at 701-239-3724.
