Vet says proactive dental health could extend pets life

What if you could extend your pet’s life simply by brushing its teeth regularly? New studies have actually shown that it might be possible. And a good way to start with maintaining pet dental health is by taking your pet to the local veterinarian for its annual check-up.
“Data supports oral hygiene in both pets and humans,” says Dr. Bruce Pedersen of the Watford City Veterinary Center.
What some pet owners may not realize is that illnesses such as heart, liver, kidney and joint disease can stem from bacteria originating in the mouth and spreading through the bloodstream of the body.
