Watford City to host NDRA Championship Finals

“There’s some pretty close races to see who is going to be this year’s champions,” says McKenzie County cowboy Clay Jorgenson of the upcoming NDRA Championship Finals Rodeo, which will be held at the McKenzie County Fairgrounds Multi-Purpose Building on Sept. 25 and 26.
After numerous rodeos, including the McKenzie County Fair Rodeo, were cancelled this summer due to COVID-19 concerns, many local rodeo lovers bowed their cowboy hats in disappointment. But like any other action-packed event, the show must go on and it will for the NDRA Finals Rodeo.
“I just pray nothing comes up to alter this,” says Eva Hepper, NDRA event coordinator.
As if hosting a rodeo event isn’t daunting enough, anyone that knows Hepper, knows she doesn’t have time to look back on what’s been lost. But she is holding her breath over the possibility of COVID-19 ripping another event out from under the NDRA again.
“I just hope to God nothing changes and we can move forward,” says Hepper. “There’s been enough stuff cancelled and nobody wants that.”
