Addison George and Sam Chavez, two students at Watford City High School, participated in an invitation-only conference in Boston, Mass. The Congress of Future Medical Leaders was held during the last week of June on the University of Massachusetts Lowell campus, and was hosted by the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Students. Addison George spoke with The Farmer about her experience.
“This year I was able to attend as an alumni member because I attended the conference last year as well,” junior Addison George explained. “It’s so enjoyable to hear everybody speak.”
To attend the conference, students must first be recommended by a teacher, Addison said this was done by her medical careers teacher, Julie Dragseth. Then students must submit their transcripts and go through a further process to be accepted. Once accepted the students still need to pay the tuition for the prestigious event.
