Winter Classic brings hockey families from across the region

This past weekend, the Rough Rider Center hosted teams from across the region, and Canada, for the Watford City Winter Classic Hockey Tournament. It was one of four tournaments hosted here this year, with the first held in November for the Peewee division, the second in December for the Squirt division, and now the third for the Bantam division. The final tournament will be held in February for the 12U and 10U girl’s teams.
Twenty teams participated in last weekend’s event, and organizers were excited to share that this tournament had teams from Saskatchewan, Manitoba, across North Dakota, Montana, South Dakota, and Wyoming.
It was estimated that there were around 300 kids who participated over the weekend. In addition to the athletes, there were coaches, parents, families, and local volunteers that made for a packed house all weekend long.
