Anna Knight
Anna J. Knight, 94, passed away peacefully on Nov. 9, 2015, at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, Ill.
Anna Judith Jellesed was born April 10, 1921 on the family homestead near Charlson, N.D., to Lewis and Petra (Jacobson) Jellesed.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Keene First Lutheran Church in Keene, N.D.
She was known in the Charlson area for gardening, sewing, and riding horses. She lived through the Great Depression and World War II.
She married Elmer E. “Mike” Knight of Charlson in Sidney, Mont. on Oct. 3, 1949. They farmed and lived in rural Charlson until 1991 when they moved to Washburn, N.D. Anna later moved to Bismarck to be near her daughter, Anita. In 2009 when Anita relocated to Arlington, Va., Anna moved to Chillicothe, Ill. to be near her daughter, Patricia.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and brother, Arnel. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia (Roger) Wehage of Chillicothe, Ill. and Anita (L. Roger) Johnson of Arlington, Va.; five grandchildren, Kris (Teri) Wehage, Davis, Calif., Jennifer (Andy) Wehage-Noetzel, Peoria, Ill., Jessica Johnson, Eugene, Ore.; Scott (Jessica) Johnson, Boulder, Colo., and Aaron (Kayla) Johnson, Fargo, N.D.; four great-grandchildren, Willow Wehage, Clayton Castillo-Johnson, Eliot and Olive Johnson. Other survivors include her sister-in-law, Lillian Jellesed, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In her final days, she was in the loving care of her daughters and OSF Hospice Home. A memorial service will be held at Keene First Lutheran Church in the Spring.
