Bruce St. Cyr
Funeral services for Bruce St. Cyr, 57, of Sidney, Mont., were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at the Lonsdale United Methodist Church in Sidney, with Pastor Vicki Waddington officiating. Interment took place at the Sidney Cemetery. Remembrances and condolences may be shared with the family at www.fulkersons.com. Bruce William St. Cyr was born Aug. 3, 1953, in Sidney, the youngest child of Robert and Jean St. Cyr. He graduated from Sidney High School in 1972, then from National College of Business, Rapid City, S.D., in 1977, excelling in small business consulting.
Bruce began his professional life in the title business, which became his specialty. As his career progressed, he became an accomplished Landman. He set a standard in the Landman business with his dedication to excellence, accuracy, and security. During his 33-year career, Bruce managed crews, trained other Landmen, traveled to Europe to find and to lease from people there, and built abstracts satisfying requirements which an attorney stated, in his opinion, was a first. His diligence and attention to detail led to continued employment during uncertain economic times.
Bruce was optimistic and looking forward to returning to work as he missed his many friends who worked in area courthouses and co-workers. Bruce’s warm and friendly nature, his personal greetings by name, and his wonderful sense of humor will be sorely missed. He cared about his community and, even though he often worked in the surrounding areas, he always considered Sidney home.
Bruce was a supporter of many local and national charities. He was a member of the Lonsdale United Methodist Church, the Sidney Elks Lodge, and the American Association of Professional Landmen.
Bruce died peacefully at his home on Saturday morning, Nov. 6, 2010. He lost his courageous battle with small-cell lung cancer, and the family is thankful that he was able to fulfill his wishes to die at home and never really suffer from pain.
Bruce is survived by his sisters, Bev (Steve Kaul) St. Cyr, Helena, Mont., and Lynn (Steve) Sherick, Polson, Mont.; nephew, Steve (Alisa) Sherick, Denver, Colo.; niece, Bequia (Peter Roberts) Sherick, Berkeley, Calif.; uncles, Robert (Ruby) Morris and Rich (Tina) Morris; aunt, Shirlee Morris; and several cousins.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Bobby; aunt, Margaret (Chet) Fanning; grandparents, Dennison and Toots Morris and Alfonse and Grace St. Cyr.
