DeLoris Hagen

DeLoris Hagen, 90, of Williston, passed away Friday morning, June 19, 2015, at the Bethel Lutheran Home in Williston, N.D.
Our mother, DeLoris Lorene was born on December 15, 1924, in rural Alexander, to Leonard and Elda (Abelmann) Fixen. She was the oldest of seven children. Mom was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She was raised and helped out on the family farm.
She graduated from the eighth grade in McKenzie County, N.D. She then started working in Williston at a floral shop. DeLoris and her sister Ellen, headed west looking for work in Seattle. Living with her cousin, Ardath Workman, she worked in a clothing store. She then returned to North Dakota, where she met and married Wayne Hagen in 1956 and had four children. They operated Farmer’s Bar in Williston and later, Red’s Bar in Alexander. They were later divorced in 1979.
DeLoris worked at Bethel Lutheran home, as well as in home health care, and retired in Williston.
She loved to grow flowers and had some spectacular blossoms. She could often be found out in her flower garden working from her walker.  She also enjoyed watching the birds from her apartment window. She enjoyed all types of crafts. She loved to decorate her apartment, as well as the hallway for others to enjoy. She loved to decorate for Christmas with the lights and motion-activated figurines.
She moved to Bethel Lutheran home in 2011 and spoke fondly of the staff for the care that she received.
She was a member of the Moose and volunteered for many organizations. DeLoris also served as a Sunday school teacher at Rossland Lutheran Church.
DeLoris was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Elda (Abelmann) Fixen; grandson, Justin Comstock; brothers and sister, Harley (Elsie) Fixen, LeRoy Fixen, Edna (Ervin) Rehak; mother and father-in- law, Victor and Evelyn Hagen; brother and sister-in-laws, George Novak, Ronald (Cora) Hagen, Audrey (Erling) Kvande; as well as uncles, aunts and cousins.
 DeLoris is survived by son, Doyle (Debbera) Hagen of Watford City, N.D.; son, Brian Hagen of Kalispell, Mont.; daughter, Tamie Jensen of Lacey, Wash.; daughter, Holly (Bruce) Helling of Alexander, N.D.; three grandchildren, Nathan (Milli) Comstock of San Francisco, Calif., Reggi (Zach) Glueckert of Bismarck, N.D., and Nikki (Luke ) Holen of Alexander, N.D.; five great-grandchildren, Vinnie and Noor Comstock of San Francisco, Calif., Brooklyn and Cameron Glueckert of Bismarck, N.D., and Baby Holen (due in Sept.) of Alexander, N.D.; sister, Ellen Novak of Alexander, N.D.; brother, James (Rae) Fixen of Alexander, N.D.; sister, Darlene (Merrill) Benth of Williston, N.D.; brother and sister-in-laws, Clara Fixen of Williston, N.D., and Mavis (Brian) Smith of Wilsonville, Ore. Also surviving her are many nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit www.eversoncoughlin.com to share remembrances of DeLoris or leave condolences for her family. Friends may also call at the Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday for the hour preceding the funeral.
Her funeral will be celebrated Wednesday morning, June 24, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Williston. Rev. Kay Reeb will officiate and interment of the cremated remains will follow in the Hillside Memory Gardens in Williston.
