Donald Muirhead

Donald Bernt Muirhead of Midland, Texas, will be laid to rest in the Clear Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. He died in Midland, Texas on June 26, 2009. Rob Favorite will officiate at the graveside burial and military rites will be provided by the Carl E. Rogen American Legion Post #29.
Don was born in Seattle, Wash., July 25, 1948, to Helen and Sidney Muirhead. In 1952, his family moved to a farm near Keene. He attended the Blue Buttes School, Dodge School, and Keene School and graduated from Watford City High School in 1966. He was active in the Keene Lucky 4-H Club, the Watford City High School FFA and the Clear Creek Luther League. Don attended North Dakota State University and graduated with a B.A. in History in 1970. During college, he was active in the Army. He served at Fort Walters, Texas, before being stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1975 at the rank of Captain.
Upon leaving the Army, Don farmed with his parents before moving to Odessa, Texas, in 1977 to work in the oil field business. He later started his own construction company, Permian Contractors, and was a well-respected businessman in the Midland-Odessa area.
Don is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Leigh Muirhead of Odessa, Texas; his mother, Helen Muirhead of Watford City; and his sister, Evelyn Wilson of Hunstville, Ala. He was preceded in death by his father, Sidney Muirhead of Keene, and brother Keith Muirhead, Sr. of Billings, Mont.
