Doris Johnson

Doris E. Johnson, 87, of Watford City, N.D., entered her eternal home on Wednesday evening, Aug. 12, 2009, at Watford City, N.D.
Her life was celebrated at the First Lutheran Church in Watford City on Aug. 17, 2009. Pastoral Assistant Rob Favorite officiated and interment was at the Spring Creek Cemetery SE of Watford City.
A reception for the family was held immediately following the funeral with a lunch served by the women of Spring Creek Lutheran Church.
Doris Johnson was born on the family farm in Norstog Township, south of Watford City on Sept. 29, 1921, the daughter of John A. and Maria (Bjelkevig) Hagen. She was raised on the family farm and first attended the Randall school and graduated from Watford City High School in 1940.
Doris was united in marriage to Dallas Johnson at Fairview, Mont.,  on Dec. 18, 1941. To this union two children, Duane and Darlene, were born. The family first made their home on the Stutrud ranch, south of Watford City for a time, and then moved into Watford City where they raised their children, and later moved to the Nygaard farm before settling in Watford City permanently. Doris always enjoyed working as she did  on the farm and worked out of the house at several locations in Watford City: City Cleaners, Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store, The Clothes Basket, Hanna Insurance, the 4 Eyes Motel and eventually the Watford City Senior Center, places of employment that kept Doris well connected with the people of Watford City. She retired at the age of 85.
She was a member of Spring Creek Lutheran Church, Ladies Aide, Homemakers, quilting guild, and she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and playing word-find games.
She is survived by her son, Duane, of Watford City, N.D., daughter, Darlene (Ross) Birney, of Bismarck, N.D., grandchildren; Nathan Sivertson and his children Derrick, Cody and Sadie, Jodi (John) Wick and their children, Cameron, Justin and Allisa, step-grandsons, Jason (friend, Toni DeFoe) Sivertson and his children, Tyler, Colton and Tadan, Eric Birney and Dana (Lavonne) Birney, step-granddaughter, Dana (Wade) Wold and their child, Kira, and one sister, Mildred Gifstad, of Watford City, N.D.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Della Johnson, and two brothers; Manual and Orville.
