Ethelyn Basol

Ethelyn A. Basol, 97, of Watford City, N.D., passed away, Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018, at the Good Shepherd Home in Watford City, N.D.
Ethelyn was born November 16, 1920, to Nick and Ida Stavedahl in Mayville, N.D. She attended school in Mayville, N.D., and also attended Mayville State Teacher’s College with a degree in bookkeeping. She enjoyed music during those years and played the saxophone and loved performing in the harmonica band.
On March 29, 1943, she married Ernest Endrud of Mayville, N.D., and to this union three children were born, Douglas, Diane and Michael. On October 24, 1964, she married Jerald Basol from Portland, N.D. In the fall of 1965 they moved to Watford City, N.D.
Ethelyn loved music and sports. In her earlier years she loved baseball with her favorite teams being the Cincinnati Reds and the Dodgers. Later she got into basketball with the Phoenix Suns being her favorite team. She did not want to miss a game. Some of the highlights of her life were going to Dodger Stadium, Cincinnati, Ohio and to Phoenix Suns games in Phoenix with her grandson. She also loved music and played the organ. Her favorite times were playing music with her friends in Watford City and playing at the Good Shepherd Home. She also was a member of the Bell Choir at First Lutheran Church in Watford City which she truly enjoyed. Her favorite place to go was always Phoenix, Ariz., to see her son Doug and his family.
Ethelyn is survived by her two sons and one daughter, Douglas (Doni) Endrud of Prescott, Ariz., L. Michael (Sharon) Endrud of Watford City, N.D., and Diane (LeRoy) DeFoe of Watford City, N.D. Ethelyn was blessed with 9 beautiful grandchildren whom she adored and 18 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nick and Ida Stavedahl; and her only sister, Inez Dammen.
Her funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 13, 2018, at 2 p.m., at the First Lutheran Church of Watford City. Pastor Rob Favorite presided. Burial followed in Schafer Cemetery, Watford City, N.D. A family service was held at Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home Chapel of Watford City at 5 p.m., on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018.
