Eunice McCabe

Eunice McCabe, 87, of Watford City, N.D., died Friday, April 15, 2016, at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck, N.D.
Eunice Edna McCabe was born in LaCrosse, Wis. to Edna M. (Viestenz) and Joseph E. Witt on March 25, 1929.
She attended school in New Hartford, Minn.
She was married to Charles McCabe on May 10, 1948, at LaCrescent, Minn. They lived in Dakota, Minn., Nodine, Minn., and LaCrosse, Wis. until 1953, when they moved to Keene, N.D. In 1962, they moved to Watford City where she had lived ever since. Charlie died on April 26, 1999. They had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1998.
She worked at a variety of places including the American Legion for 21 years, Larsen Drug for 10 years, Watford City Golf Club for 10 years, Watford City Bowling Alley for 10 years, and finally at D & M’s Office (Rick’s) until she retired. She was 81 when she retired.
She was a member of the Epiphany Catholic Church and the Women of Epiphany, V.F.W., American Legion Auxiliary, and the W.C. Bowling Association. She was very active in these organizations. Her faith meant a great deal to her. She loved to bowl and got a plaque for bowling 25 years in a row at the State tournament. She won many tournaments with her teammates. She also bowled in four national tournaments in Seattle, Las Vegas, Denver, and Bismarck.
She enjoyed canning pickles and making assorted jams and jellies. She loved to give it away to her family and friends. She enjoyed visiting and always had treats available for the grandkids and great-grandkids when they came to visit.
Eunice is survived by her son, Tom (Ellen); daughter, Paula (Dean)Brown; and granddaughters, Theresa Stephanie (Theron) Huwe, Heather (Chris) Olheiser, Marie (Mike) Bittner; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Lily Huwe, Braxton and Maddox Olheiser, and Hendrix and Evelyn Bittner; two sisters, Geraldine McCabe and Audrey (Don) Duerwachter; sister-in-law, Joyce Witt; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Charlie; daughter, Pamela; grandson, baby boy McCabe; her parents; brothers, LeRoy, Wayne, and Daryl Witt; sisters, Violet Radtke, Darlene Moore, and Shirley Freudenfeld; and several brothers-in- law and sisters-in-law.
Friends called at the Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home in Watford City on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and at the church one hour preceding the Rosary and one hour preceding the Mass.
Her Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 21, 2016, at the Epiphany Catholic Church in Watford City. Fr. Brian Gross officiated. Burial will be in the family lot at Schafer Cemetery, Watford City.
A Rosary service was held at the church on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, Eunice requested that donations be made to Dakota Boys Ranch, Anne Carlson School, Home on the Range, or donor’s choice.
