Glenn Pittsley

Glenn Pittsley

As every good cowboy does, Glenn Joseph Pittsley, “Bub,” rode off into the sunset on April 28, 2020.
Glenn was the oldest son born to Glenn and Betty Pittsley, on Nov. 10, 1950. He was a retired Chief Petty Officer and Hospital Corpsman in the Navy, in which he proudly served 21 years. Even then after, he worked as a Radiologic Technologist until 2006.
He loved to watch rodeos, especially bull riding. He loved to attend country music concerts and sporting events. He enjoyed collecting coins and pins and he loved to fish, camp, and hunt.
Glenn had a quick wit and sense of humor about him, and you had to pay attention, so he didn’t get one over on you. He loved to tease, but it was all in good humor.
Glenn was a devoted family man. He was a loving and affectionate husband for 42 years, proud father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. You’d be lucky to have him as a neighbor. He had a huge heart and was very generous in giving alms to the poor, the church and service workers; and he avidly supported fundraisers and multiple charity organizations.
Glenn participated in the American Legion Post #83 in Merced, Calif., the Lion’s Club, the Kiwanis Club, the North American Hunting Club as a Life Member, the Special Olympics as a volunteer in Washington and was an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts.
Among all his great attributes, Glenn also was a devoted patriot often sporting red, white and blue colors and a US Navy, Retired ball cap donned with pins. He always thanked members of the Armed Forces for their service to their country, and you could catch him sharing a story or two about his time in the Navy or working on the farm when he grew up in North Dakota.
He was also “tough enough to wear pink” to spread awareness for Breast Cancer after the passing of his sister, Della Norby. He will be greatly missed and forever loved as he touched the lives of many people throughout his life.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Merlita; two daughters, Gelina (Eric) and Michelle; grandchildren, Aaliyah and Shannon Jr.; father, Glenn (Rosalie); brothers, Jimmy (Kristy) and Donny; sisters, Karen (Dale), Ellen (Jim), Louise and Nancy (Dennis); sisters-in-law, Juliet (Ken) and Ruby (Lito); brother-in-law, Ed (Lodie); and numerous nieces and nephews.
