Karen Swenson

Karen Ann (Bolken) Swenson, 56, resident of Williston, N.D., died Nov. 24, 2012, with her family by her side at Trinity Medical Center in Minot, N.D.
Karen was born June 7, 1956, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Williston, N.D. to Hillmar and Elvera (Anderson) Bolken. She was one of six children and raised on the family farm outside of Alexander, N.D. She graduated from Alexander High School in 1974. Karen met the love of her life, Kurt Swenson, and was blessed with five children.
Karen worked for 30 plus years in the print industry, including Basin Printers, The Roundup, Sidney Herald, Williston Herald, and most recently, Ink Spot Printing. She was dedicated to her career, and had a hard work ethic.
Karen loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her interests included gardening, sewing, reading, and riding bicycle. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members, including caring for her mother who passed away two years ago at 89.
Karen is survived by her husband, Kurt Swenson, Williston; daughter, Kassie Swenson and her spouse Steve Leonard, Spokane, Wash.; four sons, Wade (Kate Eckel) Swenson, Minneapolis, Minn., Jeremy Swenson, Geoff Swenson (Kristan Hiltsley), and Chad Swenson, Williston, N.D.; sister Linda (Russ) Wells, Cape Coral, Fla.; four brothers, Robert "Bob" Bolken, Gillette, Wyo., Bill "Billy" Bolken, Fargo, N.D., Kurt Bolken, Los Angeles, Calif., and Lowell (Cindy) Bolken, Minneapolis, Minn.; six grandchildren, Shandon Bilbrey, Taylor Swenson, Anthony Swenson, Kaylee Foss, Austin Foss, and Kaden Swenson; and nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Hillmar (Bill) and Elvera (Anderson) Bolken.
A funeral service for Karen was held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29, at New Hope Wesleyan Church in Williston. Online remembances and condolences may be shared at www.eversonfh.com
