Lillian Clara Dahl

Lillian Dahl, 87, of Fargo, N.D., was born Nov. 21, 1937, to Henry and Ivonetta (Martin) Norby on their farm at Charlson, N.D. She married Ernest Dahl on Oct. 24, 1960, in Glendive, Mont. They made their home on the Dahl Farm at Keene, N.D. In 1971 they moved to Ruso, N.D., and later moved to Velva, N.D. In 1978 Lillian went to school to be a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked at Trinity Nursing Home until 2002.
Upon retiring she visited family in Texas, Colorado, Washington, Oregon, and Montana.
Lillian received many names during her life: Red, Lillipint, Dakota Lil, Red Headed Lil, Lilly, Miss Daisy, Neighborhood Watch Dog, Chief White Hair, Grandma Moses, Gramma D, Granny, The Interrogator (you don’t need to water board…just send them to Lillian. I guess I ask too many questions.), Wicked Witch from the North, Lilly Babe, affectionately, “Know It All,” from her dear friends at Pioneer House, and lastly Lily of the Valley. I chose to have a Lilly on my grave marker as my husband always brought me “Lilly’s” in the spring.
Lillian has 6 children - Jay Dahl, Houston,Texas; Janet (Shawn) Needham, Moses Lake, Wash.; JoNell (Gary) Orth, West Fargo, N.D.; Jack (Niki) Dahl, Dickinson, N.D.; Jeff Dahl, Fargo, N.D.; Jon (Erica) Dahl, Fargo, N.D. She has 8 grandchildren - Megan Dahl, Matthew Dahl, Hayley Dahl, Texas; Shawn Needham and Jordan Needham, Washington; Luke Orth, North Dakota; Augustine Dahl and Maeve Dahl, North Dakota. She also had one great-grand-daughter Cora Murphy, Texas. She has one brother-in-law, Phil Stolz, Colorado; and two sisters - in - law, Norma Norby, North Dakota; Shirley Norby, North Dakota. She was preceded in death by her husband; her 14 siblings; her parents; and several nieces and nephews.
A service to remember and celebrate her life was held Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025, at Elim Care Center in Fargo, N.D., at 10:00 a.m.
