Lorraine Gregware

Lorraine Gregware, 88, of Bismarck, N.D., died Oct. 6, 2012, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday at 12:30 P.M., at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Bismarck with Rev. Thomas Richter officiating. Burial was held at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Lorraine was born on July 29, 1924, in Watford City, N.D. She was the daughter of Julie (Croff) and Edwin Yoerg, and the granddaughter of Bertha and William B. Croff of Croff, N.D. She graduated from high school in Watford City in 1941, and from NDSU in 1945 where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. After graduation, she took an internship in dietetics at St. Louis University where she did graduate studies in nutrition. Following that, she was a dietitian at the Veterans Hospital in Knoxville, Iowa, where she met Roy Gregware, of Troy, N.Y.
She married Dr. Gregware and they lived in Hanover, N.H., during her husband’s medical residencies. Their sons, Peter and Michael were born in Iowa and New Hampshire, respectively. She and her family moved to Bismarck in 1953, when Dr. Gregware joined Q & R Clinic. Their children, Joan, Mary Lee, and David were born in Bismarck.
Lorraine was a member of the Cathedral parish and a member of St. Monica’s Mission Group. She helped and chaired many hospital auxiliary balls and was active in the Medical Auxiliary, serving as president of the auxiliary for one year. She was also active in Apple Creek Country Club and served as president of the ladies group for several years.  
She was well known by her friends as an excellent gourmet cook.  She enjoyed entertaining both friends and family.
Lorraine and her husband resided at Apple Creek Country Club and in Green Valley, Ariz., during their retirement years.
Lorraine is survived by her four children, Dr. Peter (Nancy) Gregware, of Las Cruces, N.M., Joan (Thomas) Wattles, of Denver, Colo., Mary Lee (Quentin) Wangler, of Bismarck, and David Gregware, of Minneapolis, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marilynn Koppe, of Albuquerque, N.M.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. P. Roy Gregware; one son, Michael Gregware; and one sister, Catherine Hostler, of Watford City, N.D.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
