Lorraine Monson

Lorraine Katherine Monson, 89, was called home to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015, at the Good Shepard Nursing Home in Watford City, N.D.
Lorraine was born in Alexander, N.D., on March 2, 1926, to Frank and Armosa (Gregoire) Weber. She attended school in Alexander and enjoyed playing basketball in high school.
After graduating, Lorraine starting dating Chester Monson who always believed they were soulmates. The two married in the eyes of the Lord on May 20, 1946 when she was 20 years old. Their union was blessed with three children; Doug, Rocky, and Sharon.
She cherished spending time at home and raising her children, instilling good morals and beliefs.
Lorraine enjoyed her opportunity to work side by side with her sister Marge at Marge’s Café.
During her free time she helped coach softball for the summer league. She also attended church regularly and served as a member with the Altar Society.
Lorraine’s favorite color was purple. She loved embroidery, making pillow cases for “any and everybody.” She enjoyed sharing her passion for gardening with everyone, it was her favorite past time. She shared her knowledge with all; she knew how hard it was to garden in North Dakota and wanted everyone to succeed. She also enjoyed traveling to the “Great State of Alaska.” Lorraine and Chester once took a two week vacation there and loved it so much they returned multiple times staying over a month each time.
Lorraine is survived by her son, Rocky Monson; daughter, Sharon (Marvin) Haugland; two brothers, Art (Gen) Weber of Alexander, N.D. and Don Weber of Williston, N.D.; three sisters, Helen Wilder of Minn., Ethel Christianson of Sidney, Mont., and Dorothy Magnuson of Albany, Ore.; six grandchildren, four step great-grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
She is preceded in death by, the love of her life, Chester Monson; son Doug Monson; her parents, Frank and Armosa Weber; granddaughter, Katrina Jenema; and seven sisters and three brothers.
Rosary Service was held on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, at 5:30 p.m. at Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home in Watford City, N.D. Funeral Mass was on Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, at 11 a.m. in Alexander, N.D. at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church. Father Brian Gross officiated. Burial will be in the Alexander Cemetery.
